…. “WELLLLL, OBVIOUSLY we have a ROYAL PRINCE in Britain, he’s climbin through yo t.v.’s, he’s snatchin yo news channels up, sooooo you better hide CNN, hide BBC, hide yo local news station cuz he gettin MARRIED ALL UP IN HERE!!”
I think this is the perfect way to introduce myself, what do you think?
I want my blog to reflect me…random, slightly annoying, opinionated, funny, ambitious…to name a few. Who am I? I’m glad you asked. I’m Bree. A 20-something Chicago native who somehow found her way to LA to pursue a life long dream of working in the Entertainment Business. Specifically Entertainment Public Relations and/or the Music Industry.
*Scene: 8th grade classroom*
Teacher: Name 3 people you look up to.
Me: Berry Gordy, Sylvia Rhone, Russell Simmons. And Dame Dash.
Yes she asked for 3 people but how could I leave out Dame Dash in the late 90s? While you’re probably blank staring me, I’m dead serious. These are the people who influenced me and inspired me to tell my mom that being a nurse, doctor, or lawyer was out of the question. Being the only child, music was my siblings. I wasn’t the kid that watched Sesame Street. I listened to Otis Redding. I played Anita Baker records…yes RECORDS. I imagined having my own label and being the person behind the scenes that made it possible for you to hear CLASSIC Albums. Just to be apart of something that amazing is something that has haunted me for so many years. I’ve worked in Promotions on and off for the last 7 years. Primarily in Radio, and Club Promotions, while it was fun, its not exactly my dream. I’ve also tried other jobs. Recently, I was an Admissions Advisor for a University. It was my job to encourage others to reach for the stars and follow their dreams. After a while I had to use those very words to encourage myself. Now the sky is the limit. I’m here tackling Hollywood. Is it hard? Of course. Will it work? Who knows. But one thing I know is that I’ve already succeeded. I came here and I’m trying. Failure is not even attempting.
So again, welcome to my randomness! I’ll be talking about some of everything…No theme, no direction, just me! Damn I hope my family members don’t find this…
